Sebago Technics, Inc. a multi-discipline engineering consulting firm based in South Portland, Maine and MobilityTech, LLC, a management consulting firm based in Methuen, Massachusetts, (www.MobilityTech-LLC.com) have created a strategic partnership for the pursuit of public and private Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects across northern New England.
Sebago Technics is currently designing and deploying New England’s first response to AASHTO’s SPaT Challenge* in Dover, NH – which will demonstrate V2I communications between traffic signal controllers and connected vehicles. Sebago is collaborating with the University of New Hampshire’s Connectivity Research Center for the project. MobilityTech is currently providing technical support to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT), Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) in their implementation of a 3-state software solution for ITS applications called New England Compass. In addition, MobilityTech recently published a guidebook for NHDOT entitled, CAV – An Initial Roadmap for New Hampshire.
The two firms believe that ITS will continue to be a key application given the limited financial resources available for transportation system improvements and the public’s demand for increased safety, mobility, and information regarding real time roadway conditions. Together, Sebago and MobilityTech can provide clients with strategic planning, design and operational support for ITS deployment.

*SPaT stands for Signal Phasing and Timing. The SPaT challenge is an initiative started by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, otherwise known as AASHTO. AASHTO is challenging the state and local public sector transportation infrastructure owners and operators to cooperate together to achieve deployment of DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communications) infrastructure with SPaT, MAP, and RTCM broadcasts in at least one corridor or network (approximately 20 signalized intersections) in each of the 50 states by January 2020.
