A big friendly welcome to Mathew Orr, who has joined our rapidly expanding team as a Civil Engineer. Matt has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine and recently graduated with a Masters in Business Administration also from UMaine. Matt earned his Intern Engineer certificate in NY and materials testing certifications in Concrete and Nuclear Density. He enjoys sports and community service. He is from Rouses Point, NY and is now residing in Gorham. Welcome aboard, Matt!
What places have you lived in throughout your life?
I grew up in Rouses Point, NY then moved to Orono, ME for college and now reside in Gorham, ME.
What three traits define you?
Reserved manner even under pressure, passion for the things I do, and compassion for others.
What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?
Seeing the effort in the layout and development of infrastructure that most people take for granted and do not appreciate.
Before working at Sebago, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
My most interesting job was working production at the Ben & Jerry’s plant in St. Albans, VT. It was a lot of fun to see the behind the scenes work of making the best ice cream.
What are your hobbies outside the office?
Being an avid sports fan, travelling the country, enjoying the outdoors, relaxing with tv and video games.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pizza, because the toppings and style can easily be changed each day.
Top three life highlights?
Earning the rank of Eagle Scout, earning my MBA along with my BS in Civil Engineering, and beginning my career at Sebago right after graduating.
If you were an animal what would you be?
I would be a dire wolf because of their size and I am still upset that Game of Thrones has ended.
Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?
I would like to do a complete tour of Europe.
What is the best concert you attended?
The Boston Calling music festival in September of 2015.
What are you excited about at Sebago?
Being a part of the family culture that is here and having a challenge with the work I do.

Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?
I have not been able to explore it all, but as of right now I would say Acadia National Park.
