We are excited to announce that Jacob “Jake” Hunnewell has joined Sebago as a Civil Engineer in the Project Delivery Group. Mr. Hunnewell graduated cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with a degree and Civil and Environmental Engineering. He has worked in construction including perform inspection-quality control for paving. He previously shadowed with Sebago. Please join us in welcoming Jake to the Sebago Team!
Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life?
I actually grew up in Portland my whole life.
Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?
Sunday River. This is like my second home in the winter because I love skiing so much.
What three traits define you?
Honest, ambitious, loyal.
What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?
My first job was working at Shaws supermarket doing cart retrieval and bagging. I learned really quick that I should figure out what I really want to do with my life because that wasn’t it.
What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?
My favorite part would be importance of the work because it makes it more of a challenge and makes me care more about it, in turn making it more enjoyable.
What was your journey like to get where you are?
Filled with ups and downs, bringing me where I am now through persistence and determination.
What are your hobbies outside the office?
Working out, skiing, biking, and hiking.
What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics?
The company left a good impression on me when I was here for a short time in January 2020. I saw there was an open position and knew this is a place I would love to work.
Favorite thing to do in Maine?
Skiing, hiking, going to the lake and enjoying downtown Portland.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Filet Mignon with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy.
Top three life highlights?
My time at URI, getting hired at Sebago Technics, and the next one to come.
Do you have a hidden talent? If so, tell us about it!
I can juggle, solve a rubix cube in under 2 min, loon call, and make a water droplet noise.
If you were an animal what would you be and why?
Either an eagle because I could fly practically anywhere, or an orca because they’re the real king of the sea.
Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?
All around Europe – I would love to see the Netherlands, Italy, France and Switzerland (specifically to ski the Alps).
Favorite Holiday and why?
Christmas because it’s the happiest time of the year, and ski season starts.
What is the best concert you attended?
The Zac Brown Band.
What are your favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family?
Camping, going to the lake or beach, outdoor games, hiking, pick-up sports.
