Meet Dana Burbank, Sebago’s newest 3D Modeler/CAD Technician. After working for nearly a decade in the education field as a school counselor, he decided that his interest was in design. He has been attending Southern Maine Community College in its Architectural and Engineering Design program.
Outside of the office, Dana enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, playing golf, and he has also picked up playing darts over the past year. If you want to vibe with him, you can listen to one of his favorite bands, Coheed and Cambria!
With his friendly, positive, energetic spirit and strong work ethic, we believe he will be a great fit for the team, and we are excited to watch him grow in this new role.
Where did you grow up and what other places have you lived in throughout your life?
I grew up in North Andover, MA but also lived in York, ME for 3 years prior to moving to Gorham, ME in 2015.
Favorite place(s) to go in Maine?
My family loves to spend a week in Bar Harbor each summer!
What three traits define you?
Friendly, positive, energetic.
What was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?
I starting working as an Ice Cream Scooper at Benson’s Ice Cream in Boxford, MA when I was 15 years old. I worked there every summer through the end of college, and it certainly helped me develop independence and responsibility.
What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?
I’m really enjoying learning the different software that is used in this 3D modeling career. It is extremely fascinating to me and I’m looking forward to continued learning in this realm.
What was your journey like to get where you are?
I went to Stonehill College and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 2007, then moved on to earn a Master’s in Education in 2011. After that, I worked in education as a School Counselor for the past ten years.
What are your hobbies outside the office?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, playing golf (when I can get out for a couple hours), and I’ve also picked up playing darts over the past year or so.
What inspired you to work for Sebago Technics?
This company does a lot of amazing things that are very intriguing to me. As I’m in the infancy of my new career, I knew Sebago would be a great company to work for just knowing the breadth of their domains. I also really like the comradery and friendliness of the staff!
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
If it wouldn’t clog my arteries, I think I could eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch for every meal from here on out…
Top three life highlights?
The birth of my son in 2016 and the birth of my daughter in 2018 are definitely top 2.
Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?
I’d go back to Jamaica (without kids…)
Favorite Holiday and why?
Christmas by far! I believed in Santa for far longer than I should have as a kid, and I’m trying to keep that tradition alive for my kids as they grow. The excitement is unmatched.
What is the best concert you attended?
I haven’t seen too many concerts over the years, especially not recently, but one of my favorite bands is Coheed and Cambria, and I’ve seen them put on some great shows in the past.
What are your favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family?
Golfing is among my favorite things to do, although I don’t go often enough for my liking. My son, however, is getting in to the sports (at age 5), and I’m hoping to caddy for him in the pros someday.
When you think about working at Sebago Technics, what makes you proudest or most excited?
I think I’m most proud of pushing myself to make a career change in to something I think will be a great fit for me, and in finding a company like Sebago that is so professional (and fun). It confirms my decision to switch careers. I’m already learning so much from my team here at Sebago and I’m very confident I’ll soon by contributing to bigger projects!
