Scarborough, Maine
Sebago Technics was retained by Devine Capital LLC to lead the site design and permitting of this 288-unit luxury apartment complex off Haigis Parkway in Scarborough.
The Beacon at Gateway Commons is a residential community in Scarborough located directly across Payne Road from Cabela’s and Exit 42 of the Maine Turnpike, with Route 1 at the other end of the commercial parkway. The Commons consists of 12 buildings with 24 apartments each. The apartments have garages and a clubhouse with a community room, outdoor pool, gym and pet-washing room.
The location has held significance throughout Scarborough’s history, starting with the area’s first settlers who lit beacons on the top of nearby Scottow Hill, according to a news release. The community’s name is inspired by those settlers, as it intends to be a modern-day beacon, guiding residents home who will be contributing to the town and region, developers said.
Sebago Technics provided land survey, landscape architecture, civil and traffic engineering services. Permits were obtained from the Town of Scarborough, Maine Department of Environmental Protection, and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The project was built in phases to meet market demand and a groundbreaking ceremony was held in June 2018.
