We are excited to announce that Jake Hansen has joined Sebago Technics as a GIS Specialist. With an undergraduate degree in Geology from the University of Maine at Farmington and a Masters in Geosciences from East Tennessee State University, Jake brings extensive experience in GIS and surveying to further advance Sebago’s projects and services. He is a certified Property Mapper and skilled in ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, QGIS, Python programming language, and remote sensing technologies. He is an avid hiker and outdoorsman and currently resides in Porter, ME. Welcome to the Team, Jake!
What places have you lived in throughout your life?
I grew up here in Southern Maine (Springvale) then lived in Asheville, NC then Johnson City, TN for the past 7 years. I am happy to be back in the greatest state and I currently live in Parsonsfield.

What is your favorite part of the type of work that you do?
I love making maps. Particularly, I love the cartography aspect of map making. It is the marriage of art and data.
What was the most unusual or interesting job you had before Sebago?
Somewhat stereotypically, my first job was on a lobster boat.
What are your hobbies outside the office?
Hiking, canoeing, and playing music.
Favorite thing to do in Maine?
Hiking, canoeing, and playing music.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pizza, probably, if I can top it with anything.
Top three life highlights?
- Picking up a guitar for the first time
- Hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2012
- Coming home to Maine
What is your hidden talent?
If I told you, it wouldn’t be hidden anymore…
If you were an animal what would you be?
I want to say something cool like moose or bear, but probably an opossum.
Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?
Hiking in Iceland.
What is the best concert you attended?
Balkan Beatbox in Boston, or maybe Ween in Portland, or maybe Jeff Tweedy in Asheville, or maybe something else. I can’t decide.
What are you excited about at Sebago?
I’m excited to contribute meaningful data and methods and to become an owner of something bigger than myself.
