Survey CADD (Computer-Aided Design & Drafting) Technician

So, here’s how we work.  We all get together (and we mean everyone from every needed specialty) to shape an idea.  You’ll have an engineer around the table with a landscape architect, a surveyor, maybe even a traffic engineer.  From this invigorating first moment of creativity, we are shaping something.  Your keen eye for aesthetics and detail will be important immediately, and your designer skills will be invaluable.  This is a chance to learn and advance your CAD skills in a dynamic environment with some incredible peers who are there to teach and inspire and learn from you.  We’re looking for someone who is advanced in their career, so if you have a two-year degree or comparable experience, practice in being a good listener, and the ability and desire to collaborate and learn inside the collective, you better just go ahead and submit an application.  We can’t wait to meet you!

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

This is our outline to provide points of clarity.  While it’s not exhaustive, these are good specifics to be aware of.  Not every single person meets every single one of these criteria, don’t let that stop you from applying.  Together, we shape the new owner and teammate experience with thoughtful training and ever-present peer support.

Your Essentials:

  • Proficiency in Basic AutoCAD and the willingness to learn more.
  • The ability to work with other CADD staff to create and edit drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D software.  This includes collaborating closely with designers  and ensuring that the resulting product is accurate from the data received.
  • We want you to help prepare submission packages (scanning, copying, folding, and deliveries), as well as prepare exhibits from reports and obtaining information from municipalities, aerial photographs, etc.

Some additional Responsibilities:

  • This is a chance to learn and adhere to our CADD standards.
  • You’ll review plans, estimate the timeframe for completion, and train in civil site design and Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • There will be frequent meetings with designers and engineers to discuss projects and site designs.
  • Finishing well means reviewing and refining completed AutoCAD drawings and mark-ups to assure 100% completion.

Qualifications Include:

  • Two-year degree or high school degree with 2 years comparable experience.
  • Ability to work well and share ideas within anyone on the team.
  • Good communication skills (this is a heavily collaborative collective).
  • A keen eye for great aesthetics and all the details.

 SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES

  • Excellent communications skills: interpersonal, listening, oral, and written.
  • Skilled in PC and software usage including Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail and acute understanding of CADD features and items. 
  • Create detail-oriented drawings.
  • QC and Use of CADD standards.
  • Working with licensed surveyors, survey crews and 3d modelers to create CADD drawings.
  • Ability to create surface models to be used for by both survey and engineering use.
  • Review and understand redline reviews.
  • Knowledgeable in local design standards.
  • Ability to read utility drawings.
  • Create As-built drawings specific to town/ city standards.
  • Use of lidar derived data in plans.
  • Ability to process and understand the difference between 2d and 3d geometry.
  • Ability to generate 3D surfaces, 3D feature items, 2D drawings and digital models from various data sets, sketches, and specifications.
  • Knowledgeable of standard CADD and 3D modeling practices and procedures.
  • Ability to learn basic principles of surveying including topography, site survey control, existing conditions, and level of detail/ level of precision of data.
  • Ability to critically think autonomously and with team collaboration.
  • Ability to efficiently schedule and manage time.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent technical schooling in CADD, modeling, or related field.
  • Building, structures, site, and/or infrastructure CADD and modeling experience.
  • Experience using Revit and AutoCAD design software (required).
  • Familiarity in building, MEP equipment, industrial plant design, structure layout, and typical construction methods. (preferred).

Basic Life and AD&D Insurance :
Employer pays 100% for Employee in the amount of $50,000.
Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance:
Employee pays 100% of premiums for all Voluntary elections.
Short-Term Disability Insurance :
Premiums are paid 100% by the Employer, and are based on the Employee’s Current Salary.
Long-Term Disability Insurance:
Premiums are paid 100% by the Employee, and are based on the Employee’s Current Salary.
Earned Time Off (ETO):
Amount of ETO is based on years of service and accrues each payroll period.
Holidays:
New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Thanksgiving Friday, and Christmas Day.
Employee Stock Owner Plan (ESOP):
A retirement-type plan in which a trust holds stock for its beneficiaries, the employee-owners. All contributions to ESOPs come from the employer—there is no out-of-pocket expense for employee-owners
