Baltimore, MD & Washington, D.C.
The goal of this pilot project was to provide quality residential housing to members of the armed forces and their families as part of a Department of Defense initiative to eliminate inadequate military housing.
Sebago Technics teamed with JSA Architects and Picerne Military Housing to complete the site/civil engineering portion of the 3,170-unit family housing privatization project at Ft. George G. Meade located between the cities of Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC.
The master plan for the 850-acre Fort Meade housing project defines five primary neighborhoods within the multi-phased project. The design concept focuses on community, with each neighborhood containing centralized amenities including neighborhood centers with swimming pools, meeting facilities, recreation rooms and convenience stores. In addition, the project design features neighborhood greens, trails and bike paths, child play areas, outdoor recreation facilities and picnic areas.
Sebago Technics’ contract included the site planning and civil engineering for Neighborhood I of the project, comprised of 1,000 new homes over 330 acres of the site, roughly 9 miles of new roadway and five neighborhood centers. Extensive analysis of water distribution and sanitary sewer systems ensures that they are capable of servicing the total 3,000+ unit project once complete.
