What inspired you to choose Sebago Technics for your internship?
When Sebago Technics came to the UMaine job fair last fall, I connected with Mary LaFontaine (who was lovely!), and she told me about the internship program here at Sebago. I got a ton of handouts, and when I interviewed with Kylie, I knew I wanted to come for the summer!
What’s your go-to activity or hobby outside of work?
Outside of work, I really enjoy gardening, hiking, and working on construction projects with my dad!
How did you become interested in the field of engineering?
I originally enrolled at the University of Maine as a student in Environmental Sciences, but after my first semester, I got a bit bored with my classes, and decided I needed a little more math in my life! So, I picked up engineering!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to travel to Ireland, my dad went in college and hasn’t stopped talking about it since!
Can you share a project or experience from your studies that you’re particularly proud of?
I recently went to the White Mountains with a field course to do research on spring ephemerals, while being fun, I was also extremely proud of myself and my team for running an entire study in just three days!
Name one meal or food item you could eat every day for the rest of your life.
I could eat ice cream (any flavor, save for mint) every day!
What do you think are the biggest challenges that the engineering industry is currently facing?
I think that climate change – i.e., rising sea levels, increased severe weather, and loss of native plants are issues that the engineering industry is going to have to work very hard to mitigate.
What’s your favorite vacation destination?
My family’s camp in Sangerville! It’s right on a lake, and nice and quiet!

Anything on the Graceland Album by Paul Simon!
What specific skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from your internship at Sebago Technics?
I hope to see what my life could be like working as an engineer, and to make notable positive change in my community through engineering!
